Order Vicky's Bread for easy collection at Roots & Vines
At Roots & Vines, supporting local artisans is at the heart of what we do as a family-run farm shop. So we're delighted to announce a new service: you can now order directly from Vicky's Bread and collect your freshly baked loaves from our shop on West Street, Tavistock — any day of the week.
How does it work?
It couldn't be simpler:
- Order online. Visit the Vicky's Bread online shop and choose from their full range of handmade, artisan breads — from their signature sourdough to multigrain loaves and buttery pastries.
- Collect from us. Once your order arrives, simply pop into Roots & Vines whenever suits you. We're open seven days a week, so there's no need to rush.
Why you'll love it
- A wider selection. You get access to Vicky's full range — far more than we could ever fit on our shelves.
- Perfect for special occasions. Hosting a party or a big family meal? Want extra loaves for the freezer? Order exactly what you need, when you need it.
- Local through and through. Every loaf supports a Westcountry artisan baker — and a small Tavistock farm shop, too.
A closer look at Vicky's Bread
If you haven't yet experienced Vicky's Bread, let us fill you in. Vicky started her bakery in 2006 with a passion for loaves that are full of flavour, rustic in appearance and carefully crafted. From her small Cornish bakery, she has become a beloved name in the Westcountry food scene, with a commitment to quality and tradition that makes her bread truly exceptional.
At the heart of Vicky's process is sourdough. A sourdough culture is a natural mixture of flour and water, left to ferment with wild yeasts. That slow fermentation gives sourdough its incredible depth of flavour — and a longer shelf life without any preservatives.
Her bakery is known for its variety of sourdough loaves, each with its own distinct character, from tangy wholewheat to a milder white sourdough. And if sourdough isn't your thing, there's a wide range of other breads to choose from too.
Why sourdough?
Sourdough has become hugely popular in recent years, and with good reason. Beyond its unique, slightly tangy flavour, the slow fermentation enhances the bread's nutritional value: naturally occurring acids help break down phytic acid, meaning your body can absorb more of the minerals in each slice.
Many people with sensitive stomachs also find sourdough easier to digest than quicker, yeast-risen loaves. So when you order Vicky's sourdough, you're getting bread that's both delicious and genuinely good for you.
Ready to try it? Place your order with Vicky's Bread, then collect from us at 12 West Street, Tavistock — and have a browse of our local produce while you're in!
